Hello! I'm Sylvia Zhang from the department of journalist and communication. In recent years, I have a growing interest in Europe, particularly in European films. Because I believe films can show you different perspective towards the world. If sensitive enough, you may catch a glimpse of culture spirit, philosophical reflection, aesthetics, religious overtones and the meaning of life and death from a movie. That is why films are fascinating and I always want to know more about them.

Pedro Almodóvar is a well-known Spanish film director.He is an openly gay, and he has incorporated elements of underground and gay culture into mainstream forms with wide crossover appeal, thus redefining perceptions of Spanish cinema and Spain.

Hi, I’m Zaira from Italian department. I'm a lively student and I’m into traveling and admiring multicultural. 

This year I defer graduation so I planned to finish my European language and cultural programs, therefore I chose this film course which I’m very interested​​, through this course, I think I can learn a lot of interesting knowledge about films and various culture.

Giuseppe Tornatore, one of my favorite Italian film director who has lots of best know films like: Nuovo Cinema Paradiso, The Legend of 1900, The Best Offer etc.

“The Best Offer” was my favorite film in 2013, nice story, nice scene and beautiful soundtrack. Therefore I sincerely recommend that everyone can add this film into your film list!

Hi, this is Carol Huang from communication arts department. Nice meeting you all. I expect myself to have better knowladge of European culture through films from all times. I also take this course as a great chance to extend my point of view to the world by knowing their history and development.

The man is one of the most accomplished and influential swedish directors of all time. he directed over 60 films and 170 plays. i'd like to introduce Ingmar Bergman because i found him interesting after hearing a short story of him in another course. He is a strong-willed person and worths our respects.

Luc besson, French film director, writer, and producer.  It is until Lucy that I know this great film director. I love this film because it let people think the meaning of life.

This is Lisa, who is in senior of German department. She likes to surf the Internet, read books and exercise. When it comes to movies, of course, she do like to watch movies! She prefer watches movies at home instead of movie theater. Her favorite director is Miyazaki hayao (宮崎駿). 

 Jan-Ole Gerster directed his first movie- Oh boy in 2012. It is in black-and-white. Oh boy is a German comedy which won many awards in Europe.

Hi, this is Pia from german department. Nice to meet you all. In this course, I want to know any kind of movies, because I love movies. I usually watch movie twice a week, no matter on the computer, TV, or movie Theater. And recently I am considering buying a projector, so that I can enjoy big screen any time I want.

Michael Haneke is an Austrian and born 23 March 1942. He is one of my favorite directors. He is best known for films such as The White Ribbons and AMOUR . The way he process the film is so detail, especially the color and all the other setting are connected with the story. He inspires me with his magic. His films often deal with the discontent and estrangement experienced by individuals in modern society. He is also known for raising social issues in his movies.

She is easy-going and considerate, enjoying travelling around and appreciating various culture. Actually, the girl described is me, Sherry, an active exchange student from Guangdong Province. Undoubtedly I am a movie buff but not so familiar with European movies. That is the exact reason why I opt for this class. You know, stay hungry, stay foolish.

I was quite impressed by the movie POMPEII directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. The astounding movie scene indeed revealed the eruption of vocalnos, citizen's panic and unforgettable love between a tough slave and a rationlal princess. Although the movie had a tragic ending, the film-watching experience is a total enjoyment.
